Amazon announced Thursday that it has more than 5,000 Rivian electric delivery vehicles on the road across more than 800 U.S. cities, up from 3,000 in March.
- Amazon first partnered with Rivian in 2019 and plans to have 100,000 electric delivery vans delivering packages by 2030. The tech giant is also rolling out the electric delivery fleets in Europe.
- Amazon was a lead investor in Rivian’s $2.5 billion funding round in 2021. Rivian went public later that year.
- Rivian’s stock has risen nearly 50% over the past week after it reported better-than-expected results for vehicle deliveries.
