A giant sailing yacht rumored to have been built for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been spotted undergoing sea trails.

The 417-foot-long, triple-masted craft, with a price tag of upwards of $500 million, headed out to the North Sea last month, according to a report by Boat International and video from Dutch Yachting (below).

The yacht was previously known as Project Y721, but is now reportedly named Koru, a Māori symbol representing “new life, spiritual growth, and progress.”

Reports surfaced in 2021 that Bezos was the man behind the giant vessel, constructed by Dutch builder Oceanco. A spokesperson told Boat International that it “values the privacy and confidentiality of all our clients and prospective clients” and would not comment on who might be involved.

The schooner will take on the title of world’s largest sailing yacht when it’s delivered later this year.

There’s no helipad on Koru, so a massive support yacht is also part of the package.
