One of our favorite GeekWire events — our annual summer rooftop BBQ — makes its return Wednesday, Aug. 9 on the spectacular rooftop deck of First Mode in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood.
Don’t miss the festivities, which include stunning views, cool swag, cold beverages and yummy BBQ. Plus, the party will be followed by a Seattle Mariners game against the San Diego Padres at 6:40 p.m.

Speaking of the Mariners: we’ll have a very special guest appearance at this year’s event as Mariners chairman and CEO John Stanton will join us for a fireside chat.
Stanton is a wireless industry pioneer, serving in executive roles at companies such as McCaw Cellular and VoiceStream Wireless, the predecessor of the modern day T-Mobile. He also co-founded Trilogy, a longstanding Seattle-area venture capital firm.
The Microsoft and Costco board member became chairman and CEO of the Mariners in 2016. Last year, the Mariners broke the longest active playoff drought in sports, electrifying the city and garnering respect across the country. And this year the franchise hosted the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

We’ll kick things off at 3:30 p.m. for the rooftop tailgate at First Mode (542 1st Ave S. Suite 300), and then wrap things up just before 6:40 p.m. so those who are attending the Mariners game can walk over to T-Mobile Park and cheer on the M’s.
