— Sarah Korman, chief legal officer at Vancouver, Wash.-based biotech company Absci, will depart Sept. 15, according to a regulatory filing.
The company, which is developing technologies to accelerate the process of drug discovery, said the separation is not due to any operational, policy, or practice disagreements.
Korman joined Absci as general council in 2021. She was previously general counsel and corporate secretary at San Diego biotech company NEUVOGEN. Before that, Korman was head of intellectual property for final drug products at Amgen.
Korman, a DePaul University doctor of law graduate, also has a doctorate degree in materials science and engineering from Penn State University.
Absci, which went public in 2021, reported revenue of $3.4 million in the three months ended June 30, up from $1 million the same period last year. Its net loss rose to $41.7 million from $28.7 million last year. The company’s stock is down more than 92% since going public.
— Cajal Neuroscience named Kimberly Scearce-Levie as chief development officer. She previously worked as vice president of translational sciences at Denali Therapeutics and was associate director at Genentech.
— Whitney Beltrán announced a new video game studio called Dawon Entertainment. The studio, based in Bengaluru, India, will develop mobile-first video games. Beltrán recently left a director position at Bellevue, Wash. computer game studio Hidden Path Entertainment.
— Seattle-area software experimentation startup Statsig hired Ian Ito as business operations and strategy analyst. He most recently worked as an analyst at investment firm Growth Street Partners and is the founder of tech newsletter SaaS Weekly.
— Monod Bio, a biotech company that sells molecular biosensors, hired Matthew Brown as senior director of commercialization and business development. He most recently worked as an independent life sciences consultant. Brown also held business development leadership roles at biotech companies Exagen, BD, MilliporeSigma, and others.
— England-based waterproofing company Nikwax, which has its North American headquarters in Seattle, appointed Brian Davidson as global CEO. He joined the company in 2015 as director of sales, becoming president of Nikwax North America in 2017. Davidson was also vice president of sales at Sunstream Corp. and global sales director at Diamondback Fitness, among other roles.
