— Hootsuite hired two new execs: Chief Revenue Officer Jessica Hartigan and Chief Customer Officer Ellen Terchila.
Hartigan previously worked at the job-seeking platform CareerBuilder for more than a decade, most recently as SVP of sales excellence.
“I have witnessed first hand the impact of Jessica’s leadership and ability to build cohesive and high-performing teams focused on the customer,” Hootsuite CEO Irina Novoselsky said in a statement.
Terchila, who will report to Hartigan at Hootsuite, last worked as the chief customer officer at automated IT startup Electric AI. She also worked at marketing tech platform Sailthru as VP of global customer success.

— San Francisco-based EMOTIV announced Gary Flake joined as its CTO. Flake, a longtime Seattle-area investor and advisor, was previously the CTO of search and data science at Salesforce. He joined the customer-relationship management giant after it acquired his startup Clipboard in 2013.
— The Institute for Protein Design hired Lynda Stuart as its new executive director. Stuart was previously the VP of infectious disease at BioNTech and the deputy director at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
— Helen Johnson was named chief financial officer at AI data company Appen, which has a U.S. headquarters in Kirkland, Wash. Johnson previously worked as the North America CFO of Arizona-based tech consulting firm Insight.
— David Ruggiero was hired as the president of go-to-market at Seattle-based sales platform Outreach. Ruggeriero previously held sales leadership positions at Zoom and Microsoft.
— University of Washington researchers Claudia Moreno and Patrick Mitchell were selected by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute as Freeman Hrabowski Scholars. The award recognizes researchers who have the potential to lead in their respective research fields and foster diversity and inclusivity in theirs labs.
— Megan West joined AAA Washington as its new chief experience officer and VP of member experience. West previously worked at Tri Pointe Homes as its VP of sales and marketing. Before that, she worked as the senior director of marketing and digital for the Seattle Sounders FC.
— The UW announced John Amory will be the director of the university’s Institute of Translational Health Sciences. Amory is currently section head of general internal medicine at the UW Medical Center.
